Killington and Pico Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge
Day 1 Killington Vermont
The day started early and greeted us with steady snowfall. The resort had received over 3 feet during the week so great conditions were assured. We were provided a central registration table near the main race and Mountain Dew Challenge registration with posters hung and blinking flaik tags visible. In addition to our location the announcer provided announcements throughout the day and plugged flaik as a new feature for the days event tracking top speed and total vertical feet. This event has a local and regional following of families that follow the series as lots of prizes are given out for racers of all abilities. Prizes range from T-shirts, hats, skis, racks helmets and much more all handed out at end of day party.
There was lots of interest and curious skiers and snowboarders, in terms of finding out what we did and how it worked. This day would see a total of 34 participants using flaik. Prizes of a flaik beanie were awarded to the top 3 in the vertical feet category during the afternoon awards ceremony as announcements were made to the crowd of several hundred.
1. Jeff Kennedy – 20,020
2. Kaleigh Kennedy – 19, 981
3. Brendan Kennedy – 19,741
It was a Kennedy family sweep.
The results are available to view at Killington Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge on the flaik events site.
Day 2 Pico Vermont
Day 2 was a great day with the remnants of newly fallen snow and mild temps. The base lodge is centrally located and the flaik pick up and registration location was excellent right next to the Mountain Dew team. The awareness created and introduction on Day 1 had more and more coming back looking for us to get out on the hill and use flaik. It was great exposure and the Mountain Dew team has a much better idea of our service and was great in promoting the flaik demo and vertical challenge aspect.
Total numbers of participants on Day 2 at Pico was 57 participants.
Prize of flaik hats were awarded to the top three in the vertical feet category:
1. Paul Disciullo – 16,557
2. John Disciullo – 16,347
3. Ryan Bennet – 15,734
The results are available to view at Pico Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge on the flaik events site.
Congratulations to the winners and kudos to all who participated.
